How to use the currency converter
Type the amount, choose the currency you have in From and the currency you want in To. The result updates as you type. Tap the ⇄ button to flip the two currencies, for example to go from dollars to pesos or from pesos to dollars.
Example: If 1 USD = ₱58.00, then $250 is 250 × 58 = ₱14,500. Going the other way, ₱10,000 ÷ 58 is about $172.41.
Mid-market rate vs. the rate you actually get
The rate shown here is the mid-market rate, the fair midpoint that banks use when trading with each other. When you send or exchange money, the provider sells you currency at a slightly worse rate and may add a transfer fee. To compare remittance services, check how many pesos the recipient will get for the same amount and pick the one closest to the mid-market result.
Tips for OFWs and travelers
- Compare the total amount received, not just the advertised fee. A "zero fee" transfer can still cost more if the exchange rate is poor.
- Airport money changers usually have the widest spreads. Exchange only what you need there.
- When paying by card abroad, choose to be charged in the local currency. Letting the merchant convert to pesos often means a worse rate.
Frequently asked questions
Where do the exchange rates come from?
Rates come from a free public exchange-rate feed that is updated once a day from central bank and market sources. The date of the rates is shown under the result.
Why is the rate different from my bank or remittance center?
This tool shows the mid-market rate, which is the midpoint between buying and selling prices. Banks, money changers and remittance services add a margin (spread) and sometimes a fixed fee, so the amount you actually receive is usually 1–4% lower.
How often are the rates updated?
Once a day. Currency rates move all the time while markets are open, so treat the result as a close estimate, not a quote for a transaction.
Does it work offline?
After the rates have loaded once, they are saved in your browser. If you open the page again without internet, the converter uses the last saved rates and shows their date.
Is my data sent anywhere?
No. The page only downloads the daily rate list. The amounts and currencies you choose are calculated in your browser and are never sent to us or anyone else.
