How to make an ID photo
- Choose the size you need: 1×1, 2×2, passport (35×45 mm), US visa (51×51 mm) or a custom size in millimetres.
- Upload a clear, front-facing photo taken against a plain white wall.
- Drag the photo and zoom until your face fits the oval guide, with your head centred and some space above your hair.
- Click Download photo for a single JPG you can upload to an online form.
- Choose 4R or A4 and click Make print sheet. Print it at actual size and cut along the thin grey lines.
Typical Philippine ID photo requirements
Requirements differ between offices and change from time to time, but most Philippine government IDs, schools and employers ask for:
- Plain white background with no shadows or patterns.
- Recent photo, usually taken within the last 6 months.
- Neutral expression, mouth closed, both eyes open, looking straight at the camera.
- Full face visible: no hats, caps or anything covering the face (religious head coverings are usually allowed if the face is visible).
- No eyeglasses for passport and many visa photos. Remove colored contact lenses too.
- Decent attire, often with a collar. Avoid white tops on a white background.
- Good, even lighting with true skin color and no heavy editing or filters.
For a new Philippine passport, the DFA usually takes your photo on-site during your appointment. The same 35×45 mm "passport size" is still widely requested for visa applications and other documents. Some offices also ask for extras such as a name tag below the photo. Always check the current requirements of the specific agency, embassy or employer before you print. Example
A job applicant needs four 2×2 photos and a passport-size photo for a visa form. She uploads one selfie taken against a white wall, selects 2×2 in, and makes a 4R sheet with 6 copies. She then switches to Passport 35×45 mm and makes another 4R sheet with 8 copies. Printing two 4R sheets at a photo kiosk costs much less than a studio ID package.
| Size | Pixels at 300 DPI | Copies on 4R | Copies on A4 |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1×1 in | 300 × 300 | 24 | 88 |
| 2×2 in | 600 × 600 | 6 | 20 |
| Passport 35×45 mm | 413 × 531 | 8 | 32 |
| US visa 51×51 mm | 602 × 602 | 2 | 20 |
4R sheets of 1×1 and 2×2 photos fill the paper edge to edge, so print them borderless or at a photo shop. A4 sheets keep at least a 3 mm margin for home printers.
Frequently asked questions
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
No. Cropping, resizing and the print sheet are all made inside your browser on your own phone or computer. Your photo never leaves your device and is not saved by this site.
How do I print the photos at the correct size?
Download the print sheet and print it on 4R (4×6 inch) photo paper or A4 paper at 100% or "Actual size". Do not choose "Fit to page" or "Fill", because that changes the size. If the sheet has no margin, use borderless printing or bring the file to a photo printing shop.
Can this tool remove or change my background?
No. This tool does not edit your face or background. If your image already has a transparent background (for example a PNG cut-out), you can fill it with white. Otherwise, take your photo in front of a plain white wall.
What is the difference between 2×2 and passport size?
2×2 inches is a square photo (about 51×51 mm) used for many local IDs, job applications and US visas. Passport size is 35×45 mm, a taller rectangle used for passports and many visa applications. Always follow the size stated by the office you are applying to.
Will the photo be accepted by the DFA, PSA, NBI or an embassy?
This tool only crops and sizes your photo. Acceptance depends on each office's current rules on background, lighting, attire and face size. Check the official requirements of the agency or embassy before printing. This site is not affiliated with any government agency.
